Paw Academy: Times Tables Privacy Policy
Overview
Paw Academy: Times Tables is a children's maths app. We do not collect personal data, create user accounts, run analytics, or track users across apps or websites.
The app has one optional online feature, Friend Leagues, which a grown-up must turn on. It shares a small amount of game data, but never a child's name or contact details, with friends in a private league. It is described in full below.
Data Collected
This app does not collect, store on a server, or transmit personal information. Apart from the optional Friend Leagues feature described below, no app data is sent to our servers.
- No personal data is collected.
- No analytics or advertising SDKs are used.
- No accounts or sign-ins are required.
Local Storage on the Device
If a child enters a name, that name and the child's app progress are stored locally on the device only. This includes settings, mastery progress, achievements, character customisation, save and restore data, and local trial or access state. This information is never sent to us.
Friend Leagues (Optional)
Friend Leagues let a child compare daily practice with friends in a private league. They are off until a grown-up completes an in-app check to start or join a league. A league can only be seen by people who have its code.
When a child is in a league, the app sends only the following:
- A nickname generated by the app from a fixed word list, such as "Clever Bunny". The child's real name is never sent, and children cannot type their own nickname.
- The child's character appearance choices, such as hair style and outfit colours.
- The number of practice sessions finished today, the current practice streak, and the date of the last practice.
- A random member number created by the app, plus a hashed secret key used so that only this device can change or remove its entry. These are not linked to the device, an advertising ID, an account, or the child's identity.
Other players in the league see the nickname, character, today's practice count and streak. Friend Leagues have no chat, messages, photos, free text, or public leaderboards.
League data is stored by Cloudflare (Cloudflare Workers and D1), which acts as our service provider, and it is encrypted in transit. To deliver requests and prevent abuse, Cloudflare processes the device's IP address. We do not store IP addresses or use them to identify anyone.
A child's league entry is deleted when they leave the league or reset the app. Entries with no activity for 60 days are deleted automatically, and a league is deleted once it has no members.
Purchases
If you choose to unlock full access, the purchase is processed by the platform app store, such as Google Play. We do not receive or store full payment card details. The app store may process transaction-related information under its own privacy policy and terms.
Third-Party Services
The app does not load third-party analytics, advertising, or hosted web fonts. Gameplay progress and settings are stored locally on the device and are not transmitted to us. If Friend Leagues are turned on, the limited league data described above is stored with Cloudflare.
Data Retention and Deletion
Gameplay data stored by the app stays on the device until it is removed by the user. A parent or user can delete this local data by clearing the app's storage, uninstalling the app, or using any in-app reset features that may be provided. Because we do not receive this local gameplay data on our servers, we cannot independently access, export, or delete it for you.
Friend League data is deleted as described in the Friend Leagues section. A parent can also email us the league code and the child's league nickname, and we will delete that entry.
Security
We design the app so that gameplay data remains on the device and is not transmitted to our servers. The only exception is the limited Friend League data described above, which is sent over encrypted connections. If you contact us by email, your message will be handled by your email provider and ours as part of normal email delivery.
COPPA Statement
This app is directed at children and is designed not to collect personal information from children. All gameplay data stays on the device unless a user chooses to manage their own save code locally, or a grown-up turns on Friend Leagues. Friend Leagues share only an app-generated nickname, character choices and practice counts, never a child's name, photo, location or contact details.
